Warren County jailer and 101 inmates test COVID positive

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Warren County Jailer Stephen Harmon, eight deputy jailers and 101 inmates are COVID-19 positive.

There are 92 inmate tests pending and six staff tests pending.

“Thanks to the steadfast jail management and sanitation efforts, Warren County Regional Jail has been among the only few county jails with no COVID positive inmates, until now, and remains vigilant about mitigation and prevention as we are now experiencing positives,” Harmon said in a release sent out Tuesday. “Warren County Regional Jail has experienced a COVID-19 outbreak, beginning approximately a week ago, within its staff and inmate population.”

Harmon is symptomatic and working from home, he said.

Deputy jailers are working quickly to ensure testing, triaging and treatment of symptoms, he said. Movement within the facility has been restricted.

The majority of COVID positive inmates are asymptomatic. None of the inmates are hospitalized or experiencing severe symptoms.

Staffers awaiting test results are not at work and will not return until they are medically cleared.
