Warren County educator among finalists for Special Education Teacher of the Year

WARREN COUNTY, Ky. – A Warren County teacher is among the finalists for this year’s Kentucky Special Education Teacher of the Year.

According a release by the Kentucky Department of Education, three finalists have been named for the honor, including:

• Kaitlin Morris, North Warren Elementary School (Warren County)
• Kimmie Curtis, Kentucky School for the Deaf
• Allison Slone, Rowan Academy (Rowan County)

The department says the finalists will be recognized during the KYCEC Conference on Nov. 23 in Louisville.

During the conference, the department of education says one of the three finalists will be named the 2026 Kentucky Special Education Teacher of the Year.

This year, the department and KYCEC received almost 200 nominations honoring “exceptional special education teachers across Kentucky,” the release says.
