UPDATE: Name released of victim in fatal wreck on Russellville Road
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Bowling Green Police Department has released further details identifying a man who died last night in a wreck on Russellville Road.
Edin Redzic, 43, of Bowling Green was operating a Harley Davidson motorcycle Monday that was involved in the fatal incident. Three other people were listed as injured in a collision report.
On Monday, Bowling Green authorities say a fatal collision took place around 6:40 p.m. on Russellville Road near Dishman Lane.
According to the collision report, the driver of a Logan County Schools van told police the van made a left turn to enter the Wendy’s parking lot. At this time, the driver says no vehicles were visible from the opposing direction, the report states.
The report further states the driver suddenly saw the motorcycle approaching “very fast” before it hit the van.
Witnesses told police they saw the motorcycle had “gunned it” and went through the intersection during a green light, the report says. Immediately following this, the motorcycle collided with the van as the van attempted to make a left turn from the opposite direction, police say.
Redzic was pronounced dead.
According to police, the van received severe damage, while the motorcycle received very severe damage.
Logan County Schools released a statement Monday on Twitter, saying the three students in the van are safe and have been released to their families. The coach that was driving was treated for minor injuries, according to LCS.
