Trooper injured after being dragged by car
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Kentucky State Police Trooper Zachery Edwards was injured Friday when he said a man dragged him a short distance in a business parking lot.
Edwards saw a man shoplifting at the Minit Mart, 4805 Nashville Road, leave the store and get into a car. Edwards attempted to question the man’s identity and that’s when the man’s vehicle accelerated dragging Edwards a short distance, according to a release from Kentucky State Police. The car then struck another parked car.
Troopers responded to the area and with the help of Bowling Green police and the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle was found about 10 minutes later.
The car’s owner was identified as Zackary S. Logan, 20, of Alvaton. He was charged with third-degree assault on a police officer, first-degree wanton endangerment, , first-degree wanton endangerment or a police officer, reckless driving, theft by unlawful taking under $500, failure to wear seatbelts, leaving the scene of a accident and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs first offense aggravating circumstances.
He was lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail.
The trooper sustained minor injuries.
