BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – TriStar Greenview Regional Hospital says it is a 2023 Patient Safety Excellence Award recipient.

According to the hospital, this places TriStar Greenview in the top 10%of all short-term acute care hospitals evaluated by Healthgrades.

“Patient safety is at the heart of everything we do at TriStar Greenview,” said Mike Sherrod, chief executive officer of TriStar Greenview. “We continually look for ways to improve our processes and ensure that patients receive the best care. This award is a testament to our commitment to providing the best possible outcomes for those who choose us for care.”

The award evaluates the safety and quality of care at a hospital by measuring the rate which serious, potentially preventable complications or adverse events occurred in the hospital, the hospital says.

Healthgrades says on average, patients treated in a hospital receiving this award were:

  • 61.4% less likely to experience an in-hospital fall resulting in hip fracture, than patients treated at non-
    recipient hospitals
  • 52.7% less likely to experience a collapsed lung resulting from a procedure or surgery in or around the
chest, than patients treated at non-recipient hospitals
  • 66.1% less likely to experience pressure sores or bed sores acquired in the hospital, than patients
    treated at non-recipient hospitals
  • 67.3% less likely to experience catheter-related bloodstream infections acquired in the hospital, than
    patients treated at nonrecipient hospitals

“Through our 2023 Patient Safety Excellence Awards, we seek to recognize hospitals that excel in providing top-quality care for their patients while preventing serious injuries during hospital stays,” said Brad Bowman, M.D., chief medical officer and head of data science, Healthgrades.
