BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WNKY) – Drivers in northern Warren County can expect changes along KY 185 this week as a major road improvement project enters its final stages.

According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, traffic is expected to shift onto a new alignment along KY 185 as early as Wednesday, though rain could delay the change until later in the week.

As part of the transition, access from Pruitt Road to KY 185 will temporarily close. Transportation officials say a signed detour using Lodge Hall Road will guide drivers around the closure.

The new roadway alignment is located east of the current KY 185 corridor. The project begins near Runner Road and reconnects with the existing highway south of KY 1320, also known as Penns Chapel Road.

The 1.8-mile realignment includes wider travel lanes and shoulders, along with a new southbound passing lane.

The project is part of a more than $15 million investment aimed at improving safety and mobility along KY 185 in Warren County.

A separate Highway Safety Improvement Project is also underway between KY 1320 and near Jack Simmons Road. That work includes drainage upgrades, ditch improvements, new signage, paved shoulders and resurfacing.

Transportation officials say both projects are expected to be completed later this summer.
