2 from Bowling Green indicted for alleged Medicaid fraud

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Two individuals from Bowling Green have been indicted on charges related to allegedly defrauding the Medicaid system.

According to a release by the Office of Attorney General Russell Coleman, an investigation led to the indictment of 56-year-old Chandra Branch and 67-year-old Evans Mitchell, both of Bowling Green.

The release stated each are indicted on two counts of devising or engaging in a scheme to defraud the Kentucky Medical Assistance Program of $1,000 or more. In addition, officials say Branch was charged with seven counts of second-degree forgery and one count of second-degree persistent felony offender.

According to court documents, the case occurred for more than a year, with both individuals submitting fraudulent claims for payment to the Cabinet for Health and Family Services.

Branch is also accused of altering timesheets, according to officials.
