Springfield gas station employee charged after allegedly selling illegal Kratom products in parking lot

SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. – A Tennessee gas station employee is accused of selling illegal Kratom products out of the trunk of his vehicle.

According to a press release, Robertson County Sheriff’s Office investigators executed a search warrant at the North Point gas station located at 4960 Highway 41N in Springfield on Tuesday.

During the investigation, law enforcement located “numerous illegal Kratom products” inside the trunk of a vehicle belonging to Vamshidhar Reddy Donapati, of Portland, Tennessee.

Investigators say Donapati was selling the suspected Kratom products in the parking lot of the gas station to keep the products from being visible inside the store, according to the release.

Donapati was arrested and transported to the Robertson County Detention Center. He is charged with possession of Kratom with the intent to resale.

Investigators say Donapati may face charges related to the sale and delivery of Kratom and money laundering. The additional charges are expected to be presented to a Robertson County Grand Jury, according to the release.

Authorities say the search warrant is a part of an investigation into the sale of Kratom and money laundering activities in the area.

The investigation is ongoing.
