Roadwork underway on University Boulevard
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – If you drove near campus Monday, you may have noticed some road work underway.
University Boulevard, from Avenue of Champions until Old Morgantown Road, was milled Sunday night and is on its way toward getting repaved.
This is all a part of a bigger project by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet that will turn Kentucky Street into one lane with a bike lane and parking spots from Old Morgantown Road to Veterans Memorial and will make Adams Street two lanes with a bike lane.
The project was supposed to be done last year but because of COVID it got pushed until this year, according to Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokesman Wes Watt.
“We’re doing projects that were supposed to be done last year, this year plus this year’s projects so we’ve got a lot going on. It’s really good stuff going on. It’s going to have a positive impact when it’s all finished. It’s just a lot of traffic impacts and certainly inconveniences for folks who are driving around time. But when it when its all done its going to see much improvement for the motorists,” said Watt.
The project is expected to be completed in one week, but Watt says rain could delay project.
