Clinton County, KY -Back on July 3rd, the remains of an MIA Kentucky soldier were finally identified.

On Saturday, after 68 years, Private Joe Stanton Elmore was finally laid to rest as family, friends, and community members from near and far gathered at the Albany United Nazarene Church to pay their respects to a man who paid the ultimate price in service of his country.

Elmore’s remains returned to his home town of Albany, Kentucky, on Wednesday.

Elmore was killed during the battle of the Chosin Reservoir in the Korean War, and following the long, emotional funeral service, he was finally buried next to his parents and other family members in Story Cemetery in Clinton County.

The burial ceremony included full military honors to commemorate Elmore’s service to his country, and celebrate that he can finally rest in piece in the Bluegrass State.
