Pregnant mothers can now benefit from free insurance program in Kentucky
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A free insurance program for Kentucky children is now available to expectant mothers.
The Kentucky Health Insurance Program, or KCHIP, is free health insurance for children 18 and younger.
A child’s eligibility for KCHIP is based on the family income and the amount of family members.
Now, pregnant women without health insurance who meet the financial guidelines can qualify for free health care.
“Women who are pregnant and qualify financially can go and access that healthcare, and it’s going to cover the mother’s medical expenses that’s associated with pregnancy and delivery and beyond for up to 12 months after the new mom delivers,” Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman said.
Coleman suggests that any family who makes less than $70,000 a year to look into qualifying for KCHIP.
