Peace Officers Memorial Service honors local police in Warren County

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Bowling Green chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police had a memorial service this afternoon at the L&N Depot where they honored officers who have passed away recently.

We’re often told in law enforcement and emergency services that they are one big family, so they also gave out scholarships to the sons and daughters of officers as a way of taking care of their own.

“It’s very important for us to gather to memorialize the officers that have fallen in the line of duty. Every year, they do these. A lot of officers who die protecting their communities and it’s important for us to honor those sacrifices and pay tribute to those officers that gave the ultimate sacrifice,” Mike Nade, Treasurer of the Fraternal Order says.

There was a short lunch for those in attendance, and with May 15 to 19 being National Police Appreciation Week, it was a good way to close out the week.
