Non-profit donates goody bags to foster kids
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A local non-profit, Phoenix Rising, has been delivering Christmas goody bags to foster care organizations to brighten the day of kids and families in the area.
Foster children were chosen to receive these Care Kits for Kids because, according to a 2013 study discovered that 90% of kids involved in sex trafficking were at some point involved with the child welfare systems.
In these kits, kids will receive a small toy, hygiene products, a cookie making kit, and some snacks.
They also receive a small booklet that explains how to stay safe and how to stay hygienic.
Missy Cunningham, the co-founder of Phoenix Rising hopes the children and their families enjoy their gift and get educated about sex trafficking.
This is the first year the non-profit has given out these goody bags, but they plan to make it a yearly donation.
