News Anchor/Multimedia Journalist

Marquee Broadcasting Kentucky, Inc. is looking for a full-time Anchor/MMJ!

Our reporters need to be plugged in to the community, be able to gather information quickly and effectively, and report on the facts. The ideal candidate should be able to research and gather pertinent information about community events and conduct live interviews. We`re looking for reporters who can create compelling, impactful stories for our viewers, address the issues facing our community, and who are good at creating relationships.

Their anchoring duties would include reviewing, fact-checking, and correcting all copy for designated shows, and presenting daily news stories during those newscasts in a clear, effective, and engaging manner.

Duties And Responsibilities:

Enterprise, pitch, research, and deliver local, original, and factual news stories. * Build relationships within the community and establish a strong presence, outside of newscasts. * Report, write, and capture quality visual content and sound. * Edit and produce stories for multiple platforms on a tight deadline. * Demonstrate strong editorial judgment while following journalistic ethics and libel laws. * Work independently, as well as with news management and production team, in the news gathering process. * Responsible for representing News40 in a professional manner, inside and outside the studio. * Engage with the community in public appearances. * Strategically engage in social media, as an ambassador of the News40 brand. * Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience. * Participate in an established on-call rotation * Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, and at least 2 years on-air experience preferred. * Fluency in English. * Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to ad-lib when required. * Proficiency with cameras and editing software. * Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. * Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record. * Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions. * Flexibility to work any shift, including holidays and weekends.
