National Prescription Drug Take Back Day to take place Saturday

WARREN COUNTY, Ky. – The Bowling Green – Warren County Drug Task Force will participate for the 14th year in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

According to the drug task force, the majority of addictions to opioids in the nation start with prescription pills found at home. As a result, authorities are dedicating the day to help prevent addiction.

Local law enforcement will accept expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs at the following collection points in Warren County:

  • Bowling Green Police Department, 911 Kentucky St. with the drug task force and Bowling Green police
  • Kentucky State Police, Post 3 at 3119 Nashville Road, in Bowling Green
  • Greenwood High School – front parking lot with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office
  • Smiths Grove City Hall, 146 South Main St. in Smiths Grove with Smiths Grove Police Department

The drug task force says overdoses claimed the lives of over 2,000 people in Kentucky in 2022, with more than six people dying in the commonwealth every day.

Officials say the service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.
