Muhlenberg County man charged in deadly Madisonville shooting

MADISONVILLE, Ky. (WNKY) — A Muhlenberg County man has been charged with murder after a shooting late Saturday night in Madisonville left a 32-year-old man dead, according to the Madisonville Police Department.

Police identified the suspect as 27-year-old Robert Johnson.

According to investigators, officers were called to Eastside Lane just before midnight Saturday after receiving a report of a shooting.

When officers arrived, police say they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound and immediately began providing medical aid.

The man was later taken to Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville, where police say he succumbed to his injuries.

According to authorities, investigators determined the shooting stemmed from a domestic confrontation.

Police say Johnson was taken into custody without incident and lodged in the Hopkins County Jail on a murder charge.

The investigation remains ongoing.
