Kids on the Block asks the community to donate excess Halloween candy

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – It is not even Halloween yet, and many children have already racked up more candy than they can eat, so what now?

The buckets are overflowing, the kids are full of sugar… even mom and dad have had more chocolate than they needed, as Trunk or Treats hosted over the past week have handed out candy to thousands of children.

And Halloween day is still coming up, so more is on the way!

Kentucky Kids on the Block is asking citizens to donate their extra candy to them so they can make baggies to give out to children at the Christmas parades.

Kids can go through their Halloween candy from this year and pick out the candies they don’t want and donate them.

“And we love giving the children a bag of candy with a Kids On The Block puppet sticker in it. And we hope that, you know, it’ll remind the children of the messages that we present in our schools and other organizations that we present at. If you find candy that’s lying around, been in a drawer for five years, please don’t bring that to us. Just make sure the candy is candy that has been purchased this year. And we would love to make an impact on the children in the community with the donation that you want to give us,” said Ashley Reynolds, executive director at Kentucky Kids on the Block.

In doing this, we can reduce waste and save the Kids On The Block organization from having to spend money that they could put elsewhere to serve the community on candy.

You can drop off your unopened, fresh candy to the nonprofit’s office at 958 Collett Ave.
