Man charged with impersonating a peace officer in Logan County

ADAIRVILLE, Ky. – A Tennessee man is charged with impersonating a peace officer in Logan County.

According to a uniform citation, on Tuesday, the Adairville Police Department conducted a traffic stop for an extreme window tint. Authorties say while making contact with the driver, they detected a heavy odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

Police say while issuing a warning about the window tint to the driver, he identified himself as a member of law enforcement.

Authorties say the male, identified as 25-year-old Joshua O’Guin of Pleasant View, Tennessee, claimed he was a deputy sheriff for the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office in Tennessee.

Police say O’Guin admitted to possessing 26 grams of marijuana in the vehicle.

During a vehicle search, police say they located marijuana, a handgun and around $81 in cash.

Following Standard Field Sobriety Testing, O’Guin was arrested and transported to the Russellville Medical Center for a blood draw.

Authorities say they confirmed O’Guin did not work for the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office but was a security guard for a private security company.

O’Guin is charged with possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia – buy/possess, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a substance, impersonating a peace officer and trafficking in marijuana (less than 8 ounces).
