Local woman turns 100, honored by Barren River Area Development District

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A local woman is being honored for turning 100 years old.

According to the Barren River Area Development District, this week, its team reocgnized Freda Finkbone with a plaque, honoring her reaching 100 years of age.

The organization says Finkbone is an eastern Kentucky native who now calls Bowling Green home.

According to BRADD, Finkbone has “plenty of stories to tell and wisdom to share.”

The BRADD team says it asked her what the secret was to reaching 100 years old.

Finkbone said, “I guess I pray a lot. There have been some hard times, you don’t get as old as me without having some of those, but praying has helped me through it.”

According to BRADD, delivering the plaque was a “full-circle moment” for the staff after the organization’s ADRC Coordinator Mikayla delivered her very first centenarian plaque to Freda Finkbone’s husband, Jack.
