Local dog, Watson, gives children chance to practice reading
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A local professor and lifelong dog trainer has started offering free dog therapy for kids learning to read.
Toni Szymanski has been training dogs since she was 10 and says she stumbled across this idea while working on her doctorate. Her black lab Watson is therapy trained and loves to love on people.
This makes him fantastic for kids learning to read as he will patiently sit by them, giving them comfort and the experience of reading aloud to others.
Find Watson at the Lisa Rice Library in Bowling Green on July 31 between noon and 2 p.m.
