Original Story
BARREN COUNTY, Ky. – Barren County is no longer under a burn ban following rainy conditions over the weekend.
According to an executive order, the ban was lifted effective Monday, Nov. 2.
However, local counties aren’t entirely off of of the hook just yet.
The Official website of the Commonwealth says multiple other counties remain under burn bans, including Logan and Metcalfe counties.
In addition, outside counties under bans include Floyd, Knott, Laurel, Letcher, Marion, Mason, Nelson, Russell and Washington counties, officials say.
Kentuckians should also remain aware of Kentucky Forest Fire Hazard Season, which remains active through Dec. 15 in every county throughout the Commonwealth.
This means burn restrictions, rather than entire bans, will still be in place.
Officials say during this period, outdoor burning is prohibited between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. within 150 feet of any woodland or brushland. Burning is permitted after 6 p.m. when conditions allow, but all fires must be attended at all times and should be completely extinguished before being left, according to officials.
