KY leaders welcome BG Hindu Temple – day 1 of 5 day ceremony

BOWLING GREEN,KY- Bowling Green’s Hindu population spent Friday celebrating the inauguration of their new temple.

Friday marks day one of the five day celebration.

People gathered in the new convention center this morning, including Bowling a Green Mayor Todd Alcott and State Representative Patti Minter.

Minter said, “having this Hindu temple as a place of worship, a place of all faiths, and a place of community is so vital to what the city is.”

Minter read Governor Andy Beshear’s personal welcome message to the temple at Friday’s ceremony.

People flew in from India, Canada and other nations across the world for this inauguration ceremony.

Hindu temple-goer Rachana Pasupuleti said, “I know, me personally, I had to travel to Nashville just to go to the temple every single week. Having it here, not only as a temple, but as a community center as well, is very very helpful for us, and the entire Bowling Green community for sure.”

The temple says that they want to be a place of welcome for all.
