Kids receive discounted braces at Smiles Change Lives event
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- Lawless Orthodontics is giving nearly free braces to kids next Saturday, Sept. 12 at the Smiles Change Lives event.
Twenty five local children between the ages of 12 and 14 will be receiving either braces or the consultation to begin the braces that day. The braces are completely free after a $650 donation to the Smiles Change Lives non profit organization, so that the organization can continue this event in future years.
Sometimes braces may not be a possibility for some families, but the organizations think braces don’t have to be a luxury.
“Those smiles of those kids walking out the door, knowing that they had something that they wouldn’t have had otherwise was literally priceless for us. It was something that we don’t have a lot of right now and that’s hope. So these kids knowing, looking at the after pictures of other kids that we’ve had in treatment before, it was honestly breathtaking,” said Orthodontist Specialist Dr. Jay Lawless.
The event will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 12 p.m. on that Saturday. The kids’ appointments are staggered throughout the morning to maintain social distancing and have time for sanitation.
