Kentucky Powerball winner behind bars on new charges

GEORGETOWN, Ky. – A former Kentucky Powerball winner is facing new charges, according to court records.

Court records state that 51-year-old James Farthing of Georgetown is now facing charges of first-degree strangulation (domestic violence related) and fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, minor injury.

The charges were issued on Sunday, July 26, according to court records.

A complaint warrant states the victim stated to dispatch that she was assaulted at a home in Scott County.

According to the complaint, the victim stated she and Farthing had a verbal dispute that turned physical and that Farthing allegedly used his hands to grab her neck.

The complaint warrant further states the victim had visible marks on her neck.

According to a report by LEX 18 on Tuesday, a “not guilty plea was entered for Farthing.”

Jail records state Farthing remains at the Scott County Detention Center.
