Jackson’s Orchard celebrates 61 years in Warren County

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WNKY) – Jackson’s Orchard celebrated 61 years in business Tuesday with a ribbon cutting recognizing the family-owned orchard’s longstanding connection to the Bowling Green and Warren County community.

Bill Jackson, who started the business with his wife, Shirley, and their three daughters, reflected on the orchard’s early days and its growth over more than six decades.

“When we started, we started at 61 years ago. Shirley and I and our three daughters,” Jackson said. “And for the first 20 years, we talked about this was the total crew that couldn’t afford to hire anybody else. So that’s where we began.”

Jackson said he is grateful for the opportunity to be part of the Bowling Green community.

“I can’t imagine that there is a better place in the world to live than Warren County, Kentucky,” Jackson said.

The Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce recognized Jackson’s Orchard during the ribbon cutting, noting the business has also been a Chamber partner for 40 years.

Jackson said the Chamber plays an important role in the community and that local businesses and organizations working together help strengthen Warren County.

“When you’ve got a good chamber and active, the community strong, and we all benefit from it,” Jackson said.

The orchard has also become a multigenerational family business. Jackson said he and Shirley have eight grandchildren and will welcome their 15th great-grandchild in April.

The next generation is now beginning to take over the business, with Jackson saying family members are “taking over the reins.”

Jackson said the family is proud to continue being part of the community and credited the people around them for helping the business reach its 61st year.

“If we all do a little bit all together, it works and it makes it a great place,” Jackson said. “And that’s we’re glad to be a little part of this community.”
