Reigning Cy Young Award winners Shane Bieber and Trevor Bauer got off to different starts in spring training action Monday. Bieber gave up four runs and didn’t make it through his scheduled two innings for Cleveland in a game against Kansas City. Bieber led the majors in wins, ERA and strikeouts last year. Bauer made his exhibition debut for the Los Angeles Dodgers and threw two sharp innings against Colorado. It was his first game since signing a three-year contract for $102 million. Also, longtime Washington Nationals star Ryan Zimmerman homered after opting out of playing last season because of concerns over the coronavirus.
