Katie Ledecky has returned victorious to national competition for the first time in a year. The five-time Olympic swimming champion easily won the 1,500-meter freestyle on Wednesday at a meet in San Antonio, Texas. She’s joined by other high-profile swimmers like Caeleb Dressel, Simone Manuel and Ryan Lochte. Ledecky hasn’t traveled to a meet since the coronavirus pandemic hit. She hasn’t seen most of her family since Christmas 2019. During the pandemic, she piled on virtual college classes and earned a psychology degree from Stanford.
