Authorities: Man shot by police tried to stab self, officer

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Court documents allege an arson suspect who was shot and wounded by Kentucky police last week had thrown a trash can at officers and tried to stab himself and an officer with a knife. An arrest citation detailed by news outlets Tuesday says Bryan Nigel Beach ran from the Louisville Metro Fire Headquarters on Thursday while investigators questioned him in a domestic violence-related arson case. The documents say an officer later shot Beach after he took out a knife and tried to cut himself and also attempted to stab an officer. It’s unclear whether he has an attorney who could comment for him.
