Human remains found along Richardsville Road identified

WARREN COUNTY, Ky. – The Warren County Sheriff’s Office says human remains discovered in January off of Richardsville Road have been identified.
According to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, the remains located along 7233 Richardsville Road have been identified as Raif Velic.
This follows after authorities say they responded to the scene on Jan. 8, where a timber estimator called to report he believed he had found human skeletal remains.
Authorities say a detailed grid search was conducted to collect the remains, along with clothing and other suspected evidentiary items.
The sheriff’s office says the remains were sent for examination at the Kentucky State Office of Medical Examination. A postmortem examination of the remains resulted in the identification.
Velic was previously reported missing on October 18, 2020, authorities say.
Velic went missing from his home at 1076 Pruitt Road in Richardsville, according to the sheriff’s office. He reportedly walked away from his residence, leaving his phone and vehicle.
Warren County Emergency Management, family, local law enforcement and Warren County volunteer fire departments searched the area for Velic at the time he was reported missing.
Authorities say there was no suspected foul play in Velic being missing or in his death.
