Hot or humid, landscaping duty calls

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – It’s hot out, and the humidity is high.

You need to mow your grass or take care of that shrub out front but you decide to put it off until temperatures cool down a few degrees.

But some people don’t have that option…

Nolin Smith, a designer with Southern Touch Lawn and Landscapes says he and his crew work regardless of the heat. Heavy rain and lightning would be the only reason they don’t go out to a job.

But they take precautions. Smith says they have water on hand to say hydrated. They also have cooling shirts and neck towels which stay cool.

And they also have to give a little extra care to the plants on those hot and humid days.

Smith says it’s important to quickly water anything that’s planted in the hot weather. He makes sure homeowners know that, too, so the plants receive the right care after the landscapers depart.

It’s all part of keeping lawns looking lush even when the thermometer works overtime.
