Hospice of Southern Kentucky honors memory of veterans who received care
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Sunday afternoon, Hospice of Southern Kentucky honored those veterans who received end of life care through the agency in 2023.
One hundred and nineteen names were read as families gathered to pay tribute to their loved ones who had died.
May is Military Appreciation Month, and the honorees left their marks on our nation, their families and the hospice staff.
Kendra Harris of Hospice of Southern Kentucky says, “Once they feel comfortable enough with you, they will share those stories, and many times families hear stories that their loved ones never shared with them. But, you know, end of life brings that up. And also, I think it’s a level of comfortability and being able to share it.”
Hospice held the second annual memorial at the Aviation Heritage Park and Museum. Mission BBQ served food at the event, providing those families with a meal.
News 40 will keep you informed on further opportunities to honor veterans during this month.
