Hart County WLOC Clothes for Kids

MUNFORDVILLE, Ky. – A local community comes together to have lunch while raising money for a local initiative.

The Hart County Farmers Market plays host to a cookout for a cause.

“This organization is so important to our students in Caverna and Hart County. We actually have been doing this, this is the 25th anniversary. We’re about $10,000 short of our goal of a half a million,” Wilma Bunnell, Caverna Youth Service Director says.

The Clothes for Kids program allows those who are in financial need to receive coats and other items during top seasons such as back to school and the holidays.

“It’s just an amazing feeling to be able to give to the children and they need things and they’re so grateful. And just seeing the smiles when they need a new coat or they need new shoes. So, it’s just such a wonderful feeling that you get when you’re able to do something like that,” Bunnell says.

All proceeds from the plates sold and auctioned items benefit this organization, which is a huge part of Munfordville.

“It’s just an amazing feeling to be able to give to the children and they need things and they’re so grateful. And just seeing the smiles when they need a new coat or they need new shoes. So, it’s just such a wonderful feeling that you get when you’re able to do something like that,” Anthony Myatt, Financial Advisor at Modern Woodmen says.

That’s why they decided to give a little extra to the community.

“What we’re doing today is we’re going to do a $2500 match for the funds raised here today for these kids, and it’s a wonderful cause. They’re providing a much-needed thing for these young people that do not have adequate clothing,” Myatt says.
