Multiple agencies respond after camper fire spreads to woods in Horse Cave

HART COUNTY, Ky. – The Horse Cave Fire Department is sharing what has caused visible smoke in the area Thursday afternoon.

According to the agency, crews responded to the scene of a camper fire that reached the woodline on Riordan Road off of KY-218. As of 3 p.m., the department stated Horse Cave, Cave City and Munfordville fire departments are still working in that area due to the fast moving fire.

The agency further states crews have made excellent progress, however, the public should use caution in the area as operations are active.

At the same time, the agency says the Office of Kentucky Nature Reserves is conducting a prescribed burn in the area of Rush Island Bend Road. The burn is within regulations, with property safety measures in place, according to the department.
