Hart County man accused of setting house on fire

MUNFORDVILLE, Ky.- A Hart County man is accused of arson after authorities said he set a residence on fire.

According to the Hart County Sheriff’s Office, the fire broke out in the 1800 block of Halltown Road in the Canmer community on Sunday. Authorities said Michael Jewell, 33, set the home on fire and then fled.

Jewell was later located by Kentucky State Police and arrested.

Jewell is charged with numerous offenses, including first-degree criminal mischief, third-degree terroristic threatening and third-degree assault on a police officer.

He’s being held in the Hart County Jail.
