Father charged with strangulation of juvenile

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Monday night, Bowling Green police were called to a residence on Bellevue Avenue.

Dispatch informed the officers enroute that a man was reportedly hitting his kids and wife and that a juvenile was having to hold down the assailant.

When the officer arrived at the residence, they found a child restraining his father, Jonathan Baumgardner, according to an arrest citation.

The children in the home told police Baumgardner had grabbed the mother from her seat and thrown her on the floor, according to the citation.

When a male juvenile went to help, Baumgardner threw him, cutting his arm, according to the citation.

The female juvenile said Baumgardner then grabbed her and put her into a headlock, where she was unable to breathe.

The brother then pulled Baumgardner off of the sister and pinned him to the ground and called 9-1-1, according to the citation.
