Man dies after crash involving motorcycle in Laurel County

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. – A 23-year-old man is dead following a head-on collision involving a motorcycle in Laurel County on Thursday, authorities say.

According to an update provided by Sheriff John Root with the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, a two-vehicle crash occurred Thursday at about 7:24 a.m. between a motorcycle and a car.

Authorities say a Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by 23-year-old Joshua Burkhart of McKee was traveling northbound on Industrial Boulevard when it crossed the center line and struck a passenger car driven by 50-year-old Gregory Baker of Eubank head on.

Deputies say Burkhart was pronounced dead at the scene by the Laurel County Coroner’s Office. Baker was reportedly uninjured.

The sheriff’s office was assisted on scene by the London Laurel Rescue Squad, Swiss Colony Fire and Rescue, Ambulance Inc of Laurel County and the Laurel County Coroner’s Office. The investigation is ongoing.

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. – Industrial Boulevard is reopened following a fatal head-on crash involving a motorcycle Thursday morning in Laurel County, authorities say.

According to the Laurel County Sheriff’s office, a collision between a motorcycle and a car occurred, causing Industrial Boulevard to temporarily shut down earlier Thursday morning.

The sheriff’s office says additional information will be available after next of kin is notified.

The investigation remains ongoing.
