Farmers RECC completes power restoration after severe storms

GLASGOW, Ky. (WNKY) — Farmers Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation (Farmers RECC) says it has restored power to every member whose service could be restored following Tuesday’s tornadoes and severe thunderstorms.
The July 21 storms knocked out power to about 6,000 members and broke 25 utility poles across the cooperative’s system, according to the company.
Crews logged approximately 2,500 man-hours during the restoration effort, according to Farmers RECC. The cooperative issued its final outage update Thursday.
Farmers RECC thanked its employees, members and community partners for their patience and support. It also recognized several mutual aid partners that helped with the work, including Inter-County Energy, Nolin RECC, Taylor County RECC, Blue Grass Energy, 5 Star Electric, Townsend Tree Service, Steel Rock Services and Groves Electric Service.
The cooperative also thanked members who assisted employees in the field and the families of crew members who spent extended time away from home during the restoration.
