Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office warns of jury duty call scam

EDMONSON COUNTY, Ky. – The Edmonson County Sheriff’s Office is sharing information on a phone scam circulating in the area.
Authorities say scammers are contacting members of the public and claiming they have active federal warrants for failing to report for federal grand jury duty subpoenas.
The sheriff’s office says callers will impersonate U.S. marshals or other law enforcement officers and demand payment or information.
According to authorities, law enforcement will never call the community to demand money or threaten arrest over missed jury duty.
Authorities say federal warrants are never handled via spontaneous phone requests for personal data. The public is advised to not disclose personal data, financial details or credit card numbers to these callers.
If you receive one of these calls, deputies say to hang up immediately.
