Congressman Brett Guthrie talks State of the Union address
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-Congressman Brett Guthrie is in Washington D.C. and met with News 40 ahead of the State of the Union address.
President Biden is expected to give his second State of the Union address at 8 p.m. CT.
Congressman Guthrie said the President will be addressing a Republican majority for the first time. Guthrie said job numbers are up which is great, but there are many other problems he hopes will be addressed- the border, fentanyl crisis and inflation.
News 40 specifically asked him how President Biden should tackle hitting the debt ceiling.
“We have to live in full faith and credit of the federal government but it doesn’t make sense to have a debt problem and just continue to raise the debt limit without trying to address what’s causing the problem which is excessive spending,” said Guthrie.
