Community celebrates new and improved Save A Lot in Glasgow

GLASGOW, Ky. (WNKY) — Glasgow welcomed a new Save A Lot store as a replacement for the one that has been in the city since 1992 on Wednesday.

The ribbon cutting of this new grocery store brought the community together to listen to speeches from the leaders of not only the new Save A Lot but also of the City of Glasgow. Representatives of the Glasgow city council  and the mayor of Glasgow all attended. The ceremony ended in the grocery store being opened for the public to use, and there were local food trucks to celebrate the occasion.

These local food groups all had their meal ingredients donated from local shops for the occasion.

One of the speakers, store manager Carson Moore, spoke more on the excitement of the event.

“Having such a great, successful first day means so much to me,” Moore said.

Moore has been helping with the process of opening this Save A Lot since the start, but he has been preparing longer than just the time this Save A Lot has been worked on. For Moore, the idea of being a store manager all came from growing up watching his father do the same thing. From helping sweep he floors to organizing, Moore has been learning the life of a store manager from his father.

“This was a summer job for me, and I turned it into a lifelong job for myself,” Moore spoke on how he started in this business. “Working towards being better and working towards staying with the company I’m in and getting my own store now has been a pleasure.”

Moore said this event has been an exciting new journey for him, but he does not fail to mention how important this is for the community. He spoke about all of the donations and food drives this Save A Lot plans to help with and how he wants to help aid the community.

Now officially opened, this Save A Lot is bringing in new people excited for a new but familiar grocery store.
