City Commission Meeting

BOWLING GREEN Ky. – The City Commission met tonight in order to finalize 23 resolutions ranging from the appointment of new city workers to final approval of a rezoning on River Street.

The current residents of Kentucky Gardens Mobile Home Park will now have one calendar year to move out of their mobile homes and find new housing. They will be assisted with some of the costs of their required move by a fund.

22.96 acres of land owner by Digs on the River LLC is currently zoned for general business, light industrial and highway business but is approved for rezoning as planned urban development. This will see apartments, restaurants, a boutique hotel and commercial space built on the property next to the Barren River.

Residents like Rebecca Voiles have been voicing their concerns about the economic hardship this put them under as essentially none of them have the means to reasonably move without a great deal of compensation, but they also have a bond with one another that unfortunately now has a time limit.

“It’s just very sad because a lot of us have lived there for so long. We consider each other neighbors, friends, and we’re having to leave our neighborhood and our friends and family.” Voiles said.
