Cave Area Conference Center to hold festivities benefitting beloved local musician with stage 4 cancer

CAVE CITY, Ky. – A beloved member of the Cave City community is facing some of the hardest days of his life, but the community is rallying around him in a effort to raise money to help the family.

Local musician Steve Jewell Sr. is facing stage 4 cancer and has a long road to recovery. Jewell has rocked many stages over the course of his career, but due to his condition has been unable to perform and work.

But outside of his rockstar performances and head banging songs, it’s his character and work in the community that has created a long love for him and a drive to help him and his family in any way possible.

“He’s more than just a local musician. He’s a he worked at CEA, Caveland Environmental Authority, for 20 years. He’s helped out so many people over the years he’s played benefits himself. He is one of the nicest, most down to earth people that you could ever meet. And my dad had a heart attack around the same time that Steve found out he had a brain tumor and all dad could really think about with Steve. So I thought it would be a good idea to try to help the family out,” said assistant director of tourism of the Cave Area Conference Center Allen Hogan.

This Saturday, Aug. 29, the Cave Area Conference Center will host a car show, food trucks and a concert by Black Stone Cherry, with proceeds going to Jewell to help with bills. To learn more about this weekend, you can click here.
