Bowling Green’s Community Block Party smashing success!

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The City of Bowling Green’s Community Block Party was the perfect way to kick off the warm Earth Day.

People came from near and far to the SOKY Marketplace Pavilion where they met some of the city heroes and neighborhood partners.

Events like this are a way for residents to learn about job opportunities, programs, projects and services available in our community.

It’s also a way for people to talk-one on-one with city officials and even get their game on at cornhole or golf. A top favorite was gardening with SOKY Marketplace.

SOKY Marketplace’s Tessa Norris said, “We are celebrating Earth Day along with the Community Block Party, so kids can come down and plant their own seeds and grow their own vegetables and fruits this year. Then, they get to take it home with them.”

Other partners include the National Corvette Museum, Arts for All Kentucky and the Kentucky National Guard. Many of those agencies showcased their vehicles, equipment and more to kids whose eyes were filled with wonder.

Best of all, families who came down for the block party got to stick around to watch the Bowling Green Hot Rods take on the Rome Braves for a Fireworks Friday at Bowling Green Ballpark.
