Bowling Green man arrested on theft charges
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is behind bars on a felony charge after police say he stole a vehicle from the auto detail shop he worked at.
According to the arrest citation, the victim told police he dropped his 2014 Chevy Impala off at a detail shop two weeks ago, and although he never picked it up, the shop told him it had been.
The victim told officers he was given the name and address of 34-year-old Eliezer Mendez III, an employee who had not shown up to work in two weeks.
At that address, the victim located his vehicle and called police.
The citation states Mendez gave officers a false identity before eventually admitting his real name.
Mendez was lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail on charges of theft of identity and theft by unlawful taken worth $10,000 or more but less than $1,000,000.
He was also served a warrant for another previous theft charge.
