Bob Kirby Branch Idea Lab re-opening Oct. 12
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- The Bob Kirby Branch Idea Lab at the Warren County Public Library is officially re-opening on Oct. 12.
The lab had closed because of the pandemic. Branch manager Ashley Fowlkes says people have been itching to get back and create things.
“We have a good number of people who have been asking and asking and asking. And I expect them to be the first ones who call and make a reservation,” said Fowlkes.
Library assistant Mitch Henson says it’s convenient for people to come and make a variety of things, especially when equipment can become expensive, it’s an affordable option.
“It’s a great way to get your feet wet and try different things before you want to invest in a machine yourself,” said Henson.
“You can create T-shirts, create mugs, woodwork, we have an embroidery machine, a button maker. There’s all kinds of things that people can use that they wouldn’t necessarily be able to purchase on their own,” said Fowlkes.
And with many people stuck at home or working from home because of coronavirus, now they can get out of the house and get their creative juices flowing.
“A lot of people, myself included, have been stuck at home with either the people you live with or no one. So the idea lab is a great place to come get your hands moving and hopefully uplift your spirits,” said Henson.
To keep people safe, there will be a capacity of four people total – one staff and three guests. People can make a reservation for up to two hours for one day by calling 270-782-0252 or visiting their website.
