BGPD: Further details released on train versus vehicle wreck

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Bowling Green Police Department has released further information surrounding Wednesday morning’s train versus vehicle wreck.
A collision report states the collision took place around 7:09 a.m. Wednesday off of Louisville Road.
According to the report, a Pool and Spa Depot vehicle driver told police he was traveling east toward the intersection of Louisville Road and River Street.
The driver told authorities he did not hear the train or see it when passing the railroad, the report states.
The report further states the vehicle was mostly over the tracks when a train collided with the back trailer of the vehicle.
At this time, the report states the back trailer detached, rolling back into an unoccupied 2015 Dodge Journey passenger car parked at the 2000 block of Louisville Road. As a result, the report states the parked car was pushed back into a dumpster.
The train during this incident was traveling north on the railroad when it approached the tracks near Louisville Road and River Street. According to the report, the train had a camera with captured audio and video.
The train is heard on video sounding its horn to signal its approach, the report states.
According to the report, the Pool and Spa Depot driver was not transported by EMS, but three out of the four passengers of the vehicle were transported by EMS for injuries. During the collision, the report states the vehicle’s front seat passenger was ejected.
The condition of those passengers has not been released at this time.
