BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Kentucky once again ranks as one of the top states for child abuse.

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.

In recognition of this month, Bowling Green city commissioners joined Warren County Judge-Executive Doug Gorman at the Family Enrichment Center to sign a joint proclamation.

The local leaders asked all residents to observe the month by watching out for warning signs of child abuse.

City and county law enforcement among other child advocates attended Friday’s proclamation, wearing blue to help show their support.

Family Enrichment Center Executive Director Nickie Jones said, “You know, it’s really all about celebrating children and keeping kids safe. And so that’s what today was all about…. I’m born and raised here, and I think we have one of the best communities in Bowling Green-Warren County to support children.”

Bowling Green Police officers celebrated today’s proclamation with a flashing lights show.
