BG Area Chamber of Commerce says there are 6,000 open jobs

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- The Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce has announced that there’s over 6,000 jobs open in the 10-county region in South Central Kentucky.

Even with the pandemic, the chamber says the economy is expected to keep growing over the next decade. The healthcare and hospitality industries are expected to see the largest annual growth rates at nearly 1.5%.

The manufacturing sector will need 25,000 people to keep up with demand while the professional service sector will need 53,000.

Ron Bunch, president and chief executive officer of the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce says that the majority of those open jobs are in the Bowling Green and Warren County area.

“We’ve been very blessed and the economy continues to grow and move forward, which is great for our citizens. Because really having that good quality career helps with income which can then support quality of life,” said Bunch.

The chamber projects that by 2030, there will be an additional demand for the creation of 164,629 new jobs.
