Barren County’s Bounty of the Barrens Farmers Market to be held in square for the rest of the summer
GLASGOW, Ky. – If you like fresh farmers market goodies, you are in luck.
Barren County’s Bounty of the Barrens is getting back to the old normal with their Farmer’s Market in the square.
The localized events support area producers and creators in Glasgow.
The market has been held in the parking lot of the agriculture extension office for the past year because of COVID but, starting this Saturday, the square will be filled with fresh produce and other items just in time for Summer.
Josh Johnson, market manager for Bounty of Barrens Farmers Market, says this is a big deal because people attending the market then peruse the local shops downtown and support the local economy even more.
“If there has been anything good coming out, that’s come out from the COVID virus is that maybe people have taken a step back and maybe realized the need to support local. So we’ve, Sustainable Glasgow and our market has been doing that all along and so we are really glad that we are able to continue that and continue it back here on the square,” Johnson said.
The market will run every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon through August and SNAP and E.B.T benefits are accepted as well.
