GLASGOW, Ky. – The Barren County High School JROTC program announced on Friday that it has earned the highest distinction possible during its National Inspection.

On Mar. 18, during the Junior Program Accreditation the cadet were given the designation of Honor Unit with Distinction after earning a score of 99.3.

JPA inspections are meant to evaluate the overall effectiveness of a JROTC program and occur every three years.

The cadets were evaluated through a Color Guard presentation, Drill Platoon performance, cadet interviews, portfolio reviews and formal briefings on both their Service Learning Project and Continuous Improvement Project.

Another key component they were evaluated on this year was the cadet Service Learning Project.

The cadets partnered with the Barren River Animal Welfare Association to assist the shelter by cleaning cages, bathing dogs, organizing supplies and providing care and attention to animals.

According to a release, the BCHS JROTC wants to use the achievement to highlight the program’s commitment to academic excellence, leadership development and meaningful community service.
